Bonds of Fire The Bellum Sisters 2 TA Grey Books
I'm quite disappointed with this book, so much that I refuse to finish it. I could only read up to 71% of the book before I wanted to throw it away. I read the first book in this series because I liked the idea behind it and the plot was good. I really enjoyed the first book. There were parts in there that I wasn't too thrilled about, but that did not prevent me from enjoying it once the story leveled out and the situation improved. However for this one, I didn't like it and that dislike grew to contempt.*****Spoilers!******
In the first book, Willow is a strong woman who is determined to get way from a stranger that she was promised to. It was quite enticing to read how her protector found her, had sex with her, and lost her again. I didn't exactly like that fact that she really didn't want him to sleep with her, but I still hoped that the second book would get away from the 'rapey' line. Boy was I wrong.
In the second book, Willow is caught by Lyonis in a club after evading him multiple times. He pulls her into the dark part of the club, ties her hands and hooks them on a coat hook, strips her down and has sex with her. But she says no. Clearly, she states that she does not want him to do that to her, but he doesn't listen. That sounds like rape.
When Lyonis finally captures her and brings her back to his land, he has sex with Willow again. Again, she says no. Lyonis gives her a choice to 'present her ass' or 'take him with her mouth.' Not once did he bother asking if she wanted him. She is forced onto her knees, has her mouth pinched open, and Lyonis puts his genitals in her mouth, making her give him fellatio. Somehow during the ordeal she goes from "I don't want you to touch me" to "wanting to please him." Really? A strong woman who clearly said no would have hit the guy in his genitals and ran way from him. No, that was rape.
The other interactions between Lyonis and Willow are completely different. Somehow when Lyonis is not forcing Willow to have sex with him, he treats her with respect and is protective over her. All these good things are what would make the book good. That's the way it should be, but when going to the bedroom scenes Lyonis does not show his honor or love. It's rape.
Another scene that deeply disturbed me was after Lyonis and Willow start to bond, Lyonis has Willow come to him at a gym. One thing lead to another and he's pulling her clothes off. Willow, a third time, says no. Lyonis ignores her, saying that her body is telling him yes. If a woman clearly says no, no man should ever even try to force sex. It doesn't matter if her body is supposedly 'turned on,' it's still rape!
Then another change in the book that caught me off guard and furthered my distain for the book is Willow becomes pregnant. Now through this entire ordeal, her being forced multiple times to have sex with Lyonis, she gets pregnant. Did she want to have a baby? Was she even asked? No, because Lyonis wanted to have sex with her because she is his mate. He shows the poor girl no respect, never asked her if she wanted to have sex, never asked her if she wanted to get pregnant. It is sickening.
I am truly disgusted with the book. This isn't a love story, this about a rape and Stockholm syndrome victim. I am mortified that somehow other women enjoy this. That this is entertainment. I hope my review opens people's eyes on the content in which they are reading. Rape is an issue in this country, and people wonder why it's such an issue. Well when publications like this promote such behavior, it certainly doesn't help to change the mentality of society. Please, don't waste your $3 to buy this book, there are so many other novels that are way better and don't feature rape. I really regret buying this book, it's just terrible.

Bonds of Fire The Bellum Sisters 2 TA Grey Books Reviews
While I did love the story and the whole series this one felt too rapey for my taste. I've read a lot of supernatural books with mates and possessiveness but they never do something like this. The fact that she keeps saying no is bad enough but the fact that he kinda glosses over her tragedy from her past bothers me. When she finally does give in things get worse and complicated and he is treating her like a possession instead of a part of him. That's what a mate is, the other half of someone and you care for their needs a bit more than yours most times. Again, the book was decent but there was so many times when I really hated the man she was with instead of enjoy the scene that it bothered me.
3-star rating because the story was just okay. I liked Thane and Jackie's relationship, and there was more depth and story behind theirs. I liked Alpha Lyonis, but holy hell, did Willow annoy the crap out of me. Jackie was stubborn, but she wasn't like Willow. Willow was just full of anger, but the writer made Willow's attitude seem like it was stubbornness. Well, props to the author for at least making me feel something for a character.
Willow didn't really have much depth to her as a character. I wish there was more on Alpha Lyonis and more history/background story on him as well as more growth and depth between Willow and Lyonis. Jackie and Thane's relationship was more intriguing, and they had fewer chapters. Draven and Lucinda were sorta dull as characters and as a couple, too. I definitely didn't feel a lot passion between them. I liked Lyonis because the author really brought out his Alpha character. And some of the reviewers claiming this was a rape-type story... well, no, it really wasn't. Willow was more than willing, and it was even stated in the book that she loved it and said Lyonis would have backed off if she truly felt uncomfortable. Lyonis is a shapeshifter, and he's definitely a beast of a man. Can't ignore nature's calling when he's around his mate!
Overall, it was all right - the other Bellum Sisters books were more fascinating.
